We work for both Private Individuals and Heritage Organisations.
A lot of our pictures date from before digital photography, so if there is a specific idea you need to talk though, ask to visit the workshop and look at our pictures of past work, we also have samples there.
Please phone first though, as we are often out on site, thank you.

Handrails and Balustrades
As a vetted assured trader in our local area we supply and fit handrails and railings to keep both old and young safe in their homes.
Having looked at the horrible tubular rails that are too big in diameter for arthritis sufferers to hold onto, we have developed a kit system based on square edge convex handrail.
Our advantage is that as true Blacksmiths we can bend this material round corners, with swan neck drops, and proper scroll ends. So we will make templates and patterns, make the pieces and join on site.
For a trouble free finish we can get our rails & balustrading galvanised and if required powder coated, but it takes longer so you have to plan ahead.
Over the years we have made 100’s of yards of Estate Fencing and hoop top railings, incorporating gates as required.
We don’t make small gates just to fill a gap so please go to a cold bender for these. We do make gates that last but you will need a substantial wall or pillars.
Our poles are handmade to your measurements, if you have trouble measuring we can direct you to a specialist shop who can do that and order for you.
For 2015 we have some larger rings, so can supply poles with rings right up to 35mm diameter, and larger section pole for curtains with eyelets.
There are two finishes ‘Dark Antique’ and ‘Pewter’ with rings to match. We have a order form with prices that can be emailed to you.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us. Delivery is usually within 3 weeks of written order.
For several years we manufactured a range of ‘Jacobean style wall lights and Chandeliers for a well known Yorkshire supplier of Architectural Reproductions (the design was ours). The 5 Branch electric chandelier shown is an example, and is repeatable as a single unit or in batches. Wall lights are available in batches.
Our favourite own design lanterns are the ten we made and hung in the Airedale Barn, now used for weddings which is part a National Trust property called East Riddlesden Hall on the outskirts of Keighley. The picture shows one of these hung from the massive Oak column which supports the roof. Other work carried out at the Hall includes; replacing all the mass produced window handles and stays, fire fronts, canopies, and many curtain poles.
Recently our maintenance team carried out a complete clean of the lanterns in the Airedale Barn, which involved removing all the glass; replacing a couple of cracked panes, cleaning all the glass and replacing. While they were there also wall washing of the internal gable ends and cobweb removing in the slit windows took place, who says Blacksmiths (and their partners) can’t be versatile?
The lighting effect is now back to what it was 20 plus years ago. We are pleased to be able to offer copies of these lanterns, but you will need a big room!
Trends come and go, 30 years ago half our business was making Dog Grates and Firebaskets, then came the Miners Strike and the rush to gas, now we are seeing a revival in open fires plus the Fabrication Workshop makes Canopies, Flues for Stoves, Throat Plates etc.
